Meditate and Call Me in the Morning

Meditate and Call Me in the Morning

Today’s society seems to be moving faster than ever before. Between family and work obligations, do you ever just want a mental time-out? Meditation can offer you that break without taking a full-blown vacation or day off. It can also help your brain function!

Today’s society seems to be moving faster than ever before. Between family and work obligations, do you ever just want a mental time-out? Meditation can offer you that break without taking a full-blown vacation or day off. It can also help your brain function!

Meditation allows the mind to roam freely without distractions. Try to find a quiet place, or at least a place where you won’t be interrupted, for just a few moments out of your day and simply focus on your breathing and allow your mind to be still, focusing only on your inhaling and exhaling.

This is often helpful before you begin a task. Meditation allows you to fully concentrate once you start and devote the required attention to completing it.

The physical effects of meditation can vary. It’s been proven to be helpful for reducing or alleviating anxiety, pain, depression, stress, and insomnia.

A common misconception about meditation is that it must be a religious practice in order to work. That is simply not true. Anyone can practice meditation for any reason they choose. The beauty of meditation is that it inexpensive and doesn’t require any kind of special equipment. You can practice anywhere – whether while taking a short walk, riding the bus, or even waiting to see Dr. Fayaz in the exam room.

The next time you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed, simply stop, take some deep breaths, close your eyes, and try to quiet your mind with meditation. It may be just what the doctor ordered!
